[glow=red,2,300]Two Part Question ----[/glow]
Q-
I know it says that to blashemn (maybe not spelled write) the Holy Spirit is unforgivable. My Question is,How do we make sure we are not doing this? What if you don't know you are doing it? Show an example, but don't do it with the Holy Spirit in it so we don't get in trouble.
A- Part 1
I believe perhaps you are confusing blasphemy of the Holy Spirit with the unpardonable sin. Whereas, the unpardonable sin is a form of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit blasphemy ALONE is not unforgivable. Therefore, is your question really about the unpardonable sin or about blasphemy? This must first be determined before your question can ACCURATELY be answered.
This is one of those burning issues God has given me such a great passion for because God has been falsely represented on this matter for such a long time. Most people believe the Unpardonable Sin to be something that is not even found in Scripture. I want to see to it that you have a godly understanding about blasphemy and the unpardonable sin; therefore, will you please elaborate on your question so I can determine what it is you truly in your spirit want and need to know.
Take a few minutes to read the definition from the Hebrew / Greek regarding what blasphemy is the go and read the Scripture references that follow; after that come back and ask what it is you want to know.
Scriptures -
> Matthew 12:31
> Mark 3:28-29
> Luke 12:10
> few verses before and after
Definitions -
> 987. blasfhmevw blaspheµmeáoµ, blas-fay-meh´ -o; from 989; to
vilify; spec. to speak impiously:— (speak) blaspheme (-er, -mously,
my), defame, rail on, revile, speak evil.
> 988. blasfhmiva blaspheµmia, blas-fay-me´- ah; from 989;
vilification (espec. against God):— blasphemy, evil speaking,
railing.
> 989. blavsfhmo" blaspheµmoás, blas´-fay-mos; from a der. of 984
and 5345; scurrilous, i.e. calumnious (against man), or (spec.)
impious (against God):— blasphemer (-mous), railing.
> 5345. fhvmh pheµmeµ, fay´-may; from 5346; a saying, i.e. rumor
("fame"):— fame.
Please keep in mind that if you do not PROVE SCRIPTURE WITH SCRIPTURE and understand God's Word in its entire context you will be easily lead astray into distortions people present based on only a verse or two from scripture.
Q- Part 2
O.K. I would not even know how to beginning answering the question...Lets see, I have always been told you could not be forgiven if you blaspheme the Holy Spirit, like if someone who was speaking in tongues to be very respectful and not to joke about them speaking in tongues. I see you all have a way different meaning. Please explain both ways to me so that I understand fully.
A- Part 2
Keeping in mind the definition and Scriptures already provided there are any numbers of ways to blaspheme Father, Son, and Spirit. Way too many to count or go over. There is only one form of blasphemy that will not ever be forgiven. That form of blasphemy is referred to as "The Unpardonable Sin." Many have attributed suicide to be "The Unpardonable Sin;" total untrue and not Scriptural. A ridiculous teaching. That cannot be proven with Scripture.
The Unpardonable Sin, which is a form of blasphemy, the ultimate blasphemy is claiming that the workings of the Holy Spirit are actually the workings of Satan. This is the ONLY sin that CANNOT be forgiven.
People forget that blasphemy in its complete definition form covers "Insult or mockery of God or his messengers and prophets." People have become so comfortable, comfort is good too a point, with prophets that they often border on blasphemy in their treatment of prophets. Prophets are to tend to prophets and God is to tend to prophets. People forget this fact and it can get them into trouble.
Here is a personal example minus the names of course ---
God had me to correct a pastor one time because he was manipulating people for financial gain. This pastor opened the door to his own correction. I had given a Rhema Word from God regarding giving in the congregation on a Wednesday night. When this pastor repeated the Word on Sunday he distorted it slightly, which changed its meaning a great deal. This pastor ask me to confirm this was the Word of the Lord and I gently cleared up what I had actually said for the congregation. In private, I met with the pastor, his wife, his counsel, my husband and myself. I corrected him via God's direction. He took it poorly in front of his wife and his friend. He had the option of them being present and he wanted them there. Therefore, I felt it best my husband be present as well. He not only took it badly he got angry, showed it, then proceeded to tell me about what false prophets were and said my fruit was bad. He noted people are motivated by both good and evil. He talked about people having a WRONG SPIRIT. Here is were my point comes in the most --- The implication though not specifically stated was that my source was Satan not God. My husband was so angry, a godly anger. I on the other hand was fearful for him. I knew this pastor was making a very grave mistake to talk about a prophetess of God this way. I stayed calm, did not defend myself, and told this pastor that if he did not correct his ways that his doors would be closed by July. Within a couple of months, this man’s church was closed. Now did this man cross over that line from sin into the area of the unpardonable sin, only God knows. I do not know what was said about me or the Word of God through me after I left that room, that day, but God does and I only pray that man did not cross this line. Sad yes, but a great example of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit via one of God's Prophetess.
People have also been known to confuse apostasy with the Unpardonable Sin. Again, wrong teaching. Apostasy involves an INTENSE for of rejection of Christ by a certain people. Apostasy is generally defined as the determined, willful rejection of Christ and His teachings by a Christian believer. This is different from false belief, or error, which is the result of ignorance.
I am going to give you some Scriptures to read on the matter. Here are your Scriptures to study in addition to the ones I have provided in part one [1] of the answer, which related to the answer and the truths I have talked about here.
Matthew 12:22-37
Mark 3:22-30
Luke 12:10
Hebrews 10:26–29
John 15:22
Remember to read around these verses as well.
