What this support group is and what it is not.
The reality of the situation in our society today is that we have Christians with their religious beliefs about homosexuality and transgender lifestyle that are contrary to the beliefs of their loved ones, whom the Christians love dearly, that practice this type of lifestyle. The two sides disagree out of honest, sincere, heart-felt beliefs, not discrimination or oppression, but instead an inability to reconcile two very opposing belief systems.
For the Christians who believe that homosexuality is sinful in accordance with biblical Christian beliefs and the Christians who believes that God and God alone is mankind’s Creator, thus the one that determines a person’s sexual gender, it can be extremely painful and difficult to find ways to both love their LGBT loved one and honor their own religious beliefs and faith. However, helping each other to do just that is the purpose of the support group. With that said please understand, ugly, nasty, bashing of the LGBT lifestyle helps no one, serves no purpose, and will not be tolerated on this forum.
This support group is not about changing the Christian’s religious beliefs, nor is it about bashing the LGBT individuals. However, there is a great need in the Christian Church that is going unmet because of the political correctness that is stifling our society. This is a free country and Christian are just as entitled to their religious beliefs as secular people are entitled to their beliefs. Both should be allowed those beliefs without either side viewing the other as intolerant or discriminating.
People often view only the Christian side of the equation as being intolerant and rejecting of the LGBT loved, but I can assure you from first hand knowledge and experience, that myself, as well as many other people, have been the recipients of rejection by their LGBT loved one because we refused to “agree and/or accept” the LGBT loved one’s terms, which vary based on how they believe we should handle their lifestyle and practice of homosexuality and/or transgender identity.
There are sisters, brothers, mothers, fathers, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, etc. out there who deeply love their LGBT loved one and want some form of relationship with them, but these Christian need support in navigating the tightrope that must be walked in order to have said relationship and not compromise their own religious beliefs and faith. This support group is designed that we might help one another do just that.
Let us take shelter under God’s Palm Tree (righteousness), support, and show agape love one another that we might all be encouraged.
Psalm 92:12 (NKJV)
The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree,
He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
